Ebony and Ivory Steampunk guns by 3Dpoke Ebony and Ivory Steampunk guns by 3Dpoke
These were inspired by a friend's "Saloon girl" style type of steampunk outfit. I decided to do a black and white pair of Mavericks since I hadn't seen any yet =)

Is it just me or are the extra decorations handles and hinges? This is really awesome, i'd love to make myself a pair!

yep! sure are. The extra pieces are all random bits of junk I find at the local flea market.

How did you paint these? You've done such a wonderful job with them!

The black gun was painted with flat black primer left uncovered and a textured bronze spray paint I found at Home Depot. For the white gun I used two layers of white primer and a pearl white spray I found at hobby shop (can't remember the brand I used)

I've seen quite a few repainted Nerf Mavericks as parts of steampunk costumes at local conventions, but this is the first time I've seen someone actually add decorative details to them. Very nice! :)

Well, it's certainly inspiring, too! I'm more into miniatures gaming than costumes these days, but it this nonetheless makes me want to explore the idea of taking some small toy and attaching decorative bits to it, to transform it into something new. :)

Glad you like it! The white one was extremely difficult to mod. Still not 100% satisfied with how it turned out but considering what a pain it was I'll just have to be content with it for now. =)

Neat. I like the not-all-brass colors.
